Hi guys, I hope everyone is having a good summer! I was at home in Canada for about 3 weeks. It was a great holiday filled with lots of family time, friends, SUN, Tim Horton’s, cold brew coffee and wine. Getting back to work is always difficult but I find that I actually enjoy getting back into a routine and getting back into my normal patterns. Although I always try to eat healthy while away BUT sometimes you just end up having a doughnut and a coffee from Tim Horton’s for breakfast!
While I am settling myself back into my normal routine, a healthy breakfast always gives me the opportunity to set myself up for the day. Having breakfast and taking the time to prepare it,gets me off on the right foot for the day.
I recently began trying new breakfasts and different combinations to find something that works for me. I have posted before about my training for the Berlin marathon and as my training has increased so has my appetite and need for additional fuel. For about two months I was having bullet proof coffee for my breakfast with nothing else. My coffee/breakfast included coconut oil, Kerry-gold butter, espresso and water blended. This breakfast was alright when I wasn’t running as much, however I still started to get hungry around 10 accompanied with a slight headache. I probably didn’t get fully accustomed to just eating fats for breakfast and I also missed sitting down to a meal before starting work. Bullet proof coffee has a ton of benefits don’t get me wrong but it was just not working for me while training.
I now include fats, proteins and a small but of carbohydrates to each breakfast and I feel a ALOT better. This type of breakfast keeps me satisfied until lunch and I don’t get that 10 am rush of hunger and reach for the chocolate (we always have chocolate or some type of sweets around at work!)
These are two easy and full of nutrients packed breakfasts that I have been having lately:
